Mike Gilchrist – Operational and Financial Consultant
Mike Gilchrist has over 35 years of experience in several industries, including semiconductors, infomercials and the ready mixed concrete industires. He has risen through the financial ranks of these industries, starting as an analyst in cost accounting and budgeting, then on to Controller functions, and finally as a Vice President of Finance and Operations. He has been an adjunct professor in accounting and finance at the University of Phoenix, Arizona State University and Western International University. He has conducted workshops at several National Ready Mixed Concrete Association conventions, and has served on that association’s Business Administration Committee. He published an award-winning article on the creation of a fixed expense model for predictive use in forecasting.
Most of the past 35 years have been consumed in turnaround activities involving “fixing” problem companies. Creating measurement tools, and the “fixes” for problems highlighted by those tools, resulted in imaginative, out-of-the-box solutions to difficult business situations. Creating tools for use by operations personnel has been a major focus, including truck efficiency solutions, financing solutions, customer profitability measurement on a real-time basis, accelerating the billing process, and multi-acquisition integration to common financial and operations platforms. In every instance, all yielded positive cost savings results.
Mike graduated with an accounting degree from Brigham Young University and an MBA in finance from University of Southern California. He currently lives in Mesa, Arizona and loves the clean smell of the green grass on a golf course.
